Tasty! Cute!

Feb. 21:

sushi

My friends ordered this boat of sushi at a going-away dinner we had for a friend. Tasty? I couldn’t tell you from personal experience.

Feb. 22:

hamster

My hamster was in the middle of washing herself…but it looks like she is trying to tell me a secret. So cute!

Feb. 23:

tortoise

One of our tortoises seems to have been sleeping with his mouth open. Hee!

Feb. 24:

food

I went to a childhood friend’s wedding today. For dinner I had the chicken, which was presented to me as above. SO GOOD.

Outdoors

Feb. 19:

ladybug

On my way to lunch with a new friend, I noticed that a ladybug flew into my window. Conveniently I had my camera in the passenger seat, so when stopped at a stoplight, I did my best to take a picture of it. It was so small, and the macro setting failed me. This is the best I could do before it flew away!

campus stairs

My co-worker and I ate lunch outside the student union today. He suggested I take a picture of a set of stairs we descended after eating.

In The Past Week…

Feb. 12:

hummus

I had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants with one of my dear friends. It was our last meal together for a while since she left for a semester in Paris a couple of days later. There was a TON of hummus left, and on my walk back to the office, I swung my arms as one tends to do…and some hummus spilled out. Luckily I did not get any on anyone’s clothing.

Feb. 13:

office

I was working on reading through some source code for work. It’s quite the challenge when I don’t understand it all… Also on part of my desk - a free Gumby figure (from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con) and Walter the Farting Dog (well, his mouth and front legs). And look at that, my Dilbert daily calendar is there, too.

Feb. 14:

wench

Took a friend down to 4th Avenue and walked by one of my favorite bars.

Also noticed an amusing sign at a restaurant.

gates pass

We also went to Gates Pass around sunset, and I got this amazing shot. I felt like a professional. ;)

My hamster is always trying to plan her escape. Here she is climbing out after I opened the top of her cage.

Feb. 16:

mini-golf

My friends and I played some mini-golf, but we only had 20 minutes to play. This lead to chaos as everyone was golfing at the same time.

Feb. 17:

pig

Chinese New Year’s Eve! It’s the year of the pig, and this was a gift from my aunt.

Feb. 18:

The traditional red envelope for Chinese New Year.

Nature

Feb. 10:

a mountain

I was near A Mountain, and since I’ve never taken a photo of it, I seized that opportunity. Right now it’s painted with patriotic colors.

flower

Then I looked down to where I was standing for the A Mountain picture and tried my best to take a picture of a flower. The detail was captured, but the color was not. It was a deeper purple.

Feb. 11:

clouds

Today was very cloudy (and eventually rainy), which doesn’t happen often in Tucson. As I was driving, I decided to take a picture of the clouds, and managed to get a road sign and a part of the Catalina Mountains in the shot. If you look closely, you can see that the town of Oro Valley is at an elevation of 2,640 feet above sea level, and was founded in 1974.

Safety First

condom

Ah yes, just like last year, Mr. Condom made his appearance on campus to promote safe sex. And he had a girl on his side, giving away his children.

condom

Even though “sexual responsibility week” seemed to only be one day this time around, there was an abundance of freebies. Just in time for Valentine’s Day! Score!

Campus Art

art

This piece of art is next to a building near the music building on campus. Apparently it used to be in a more central location (on the area known as the “mall”). I’m not quite sure what it is supposed to represent, but the figures show skeleton and muscle structures as they push against a wall.

History…

cactus

On our lunch break, my co-workers and I decided to explore a building on campus called Old Main. It was the building where classes were held when the university first opened in 1891. I took a photo of the unique cactus on the northeast side of the building.

I also got a shot of an old ladder leading to the attic of the building.

(I took this photo of the front of Old Main on Jan. 25. It was cloudy.)

Time Out

dog

Our beagle…it seems like he is in time-out. Or is upset because he knows I’m leaving my parents’ house again. And my goodness, he has bad posture, doesn’t he? Ha.

Tiny Paws!

hamster

At the end of the day (or for a hamster, the beginning), it’s always a good idea to cleanse oneself. Here’s my hamster in the process of washing one of her back paws. So cute!

Scenery and Smoke

sunset

sunset

A few friends and I went up to this area in town called Gates Pass for a photo shoot. We were helping a friend out with a school project. I decided to take the opportunity to get some shots of the sunset with the obligatory saguaro as part of the landscape. There’s also a shot of the Tucson Mountains. It was so peaceful up there!

Feb. 4:

hookah

Today my friends and I smoked out of my pretty hookah pipe. I had a hard time using that metal screen (on the right) because it wouldn’t heat up the tobacco enough to produce a good smoking experience. We eventually just put the coal directly on top of the tobacco, which burned it a lot faster than we wanted, but made the flavor a lot stronger. I think smoking the flavored tobacco from a hookah is a bit healthier than smoking something like cigarettes…or at least that is what I tell myself.
